Izzy's Traditional Jewish Recipes

Izzy originally from Poland, is an amazing person who spent from age 18 to 24 in German concentration camps doing slave labor, including Auschwitz. Never having had more then a 7th grade education he was liberated in 1945 with nothing more then the clothes he was given, yet he stayed in Germany and became a millionaire there while still in his thirties. In 1964 he came to the US and continued doing business here. Now at 85 he is retired doing the snowbird thing and doing his favorite thing, cooking. Everybody who has tasted his food raves about it, and everyone who knows him thinks he is a real character. Simple, quick and decadent Latkes (Jewish Potato Pancakes) bought to you my Meg Stone from My Jewish Home. This easy to follow recipe shows you how to make Latkes in 10 minutes so you can enjoy delicious potato pancakes whenever you want! Ingredients: 1 Box Latkes Mix 1 Egg Water Oil for Frying Pour the mix into a bowl, add water and 1 egg. (Some instructions may vary depending on the Latkes Mix you have) Mix together with a fork. With dry hands form circular flat patties. Add a generous amount of oil to a pan and set to a high heat. Add the Latkes to the oil and fry for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally. Lay down paper towels and set the latkes on top to absorb the grease. Serve as part of a larger meal or simply with sour cream!
